Wouter Hisschemöller (1965) is a Dutch artist living in Amsterdam.
His paintings are about people and life in the city. The cities often are Amsterdam or places around Europe that he visited. Sometimes they are just fantasy. The people can be anyone: neighbourhood locals, tourists, office workers, musicians, just people you could meet in your daily life. The paintings are often composed as collages. They are constructed from fragments of several different photos and video stills, which gives the paintings a strange surreal feel. To achieve this effect he uses the computer and Photoshop to compose the paintings. As an experienced computer programmer he also writes his own custom software to achieve the effects he wants.
