Artist Alexei Chizhov was born on February 8, 1980 in Leningrad (now St. Petersburg, Russia). In 1997-2001 he studied at the Russian State Pedagogical University named after A.I. Herzen at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Bachelor of Arts. In 2004-2010 he studied at the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts named after Ilya Repin in the workshop of V.S. Pesikov. Chizhov's works are in private collections in Russia and abroad.

“In terms of the creative method, I feel like an academician. My works are a cross between magical realism and actual academicism. Now I work in long series. I love picturesqueness, memorable images and clear plastic narrative. I often add opium poppy to my creative message as a favorite seasoning, ”Chizhov writes about his paintings.
