Victor Ribas was born in 1967 in the Jewish Auth. region of the USSR, on the border with China.
Victor is a media artist who uses science and technology to create his works. He was the first to use laser light to create linear photography. This method provides accurate and impressive results for conveying the essence of objects and people - we understand human emotions, recognize his profession and abilities. The fractal created by Victor Ribas can be called “human” - both created by a man (where the artist himself acts as a generator of fractals) and revealing the basic qualities of a person.
Linear fractal portraits, as the author calls his works, visually consist of lines left on the surface of the object being shot by laser beams. They reveal its relief by hinting at its shape.
The laser beam leaves a spot of light on the surface of the object. By recording his movement on a camera with a long exposure, the artist gets a kind of projection of the relief of this object on a plane.
